We the business community of Gournes have taken the initiative and have all joined together to produce our tourist information directory, that will enable visitors to see what Gournes has on offer.
Many visitors that come to Gournes for the first time or the many friends that come
back every year. The many business owners of Gournes pay for the Community
beaches to be cleaned to keep the standards of hygiene of our waterfront
beaches for all the guests visiting Gournes to enjoy.
We have adopted a policy of community initiative to support
tourism with many taverna owners and hotels that enable them to serve you directly with
beverages and food on the beach that comply with health and safety. Therefore,
if you are staying at an apartment you can expect the same beach service as if you
are in a 5 star hotel.
In certain locations along the beach, we have lifeguard stations for your safety. The beaches have low tides so in general the beaches
are safe from currents. We feel it is important to inform you, that then it is windy
then we advise, that guests take extra care and follow our swimming beach flags polices.
When you’re looking to go on a beach holiday the sight of a Blue Flag beach is a sign that you have arrived at one of the best beach spots in the world. Greece is one of the top ranked countries in
Europe when it comes to beach cleanliness and safety, with 430 beaches and 9 marinas deemed worthy
to fly the coveted Blue Flag.
Since its inception in 1987, the Blue Flag award has become an internationally recognised beach mark standard, and an award that is much coveted, becoming a symbol of quality that is recognised by
tourists and tour operators alike.
